HALLOWELL CENTER AND DORE HAVE PARTNERED
TO CONQUER ADHD/DYSLEXIA

The Hallowell Center and DORE, a drug free program for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, and other learning difficulties, recently announced a new collaborative effort. The Dore Program is now offered at the Hallowell Center in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Says Dr. Edward Hallowell, "We at the Hallowell Center are very excited to team up with the people from DORE. Their method of cerebellar assessment and stimulation offers an extremely promising and innovative way of helping people with ADHD and dyslexia. In our efforts to make available all respectable complementary and alternative treatments, we believe that the DORE approach, which uses physical exercises on a daily basis, can lead to major improvement for patients who stick with the program long enough to reap the benefits. My own son benefited from the DORE Program, so I have seen firsthand how helpful it can be."

Founder Wynford Dore added, "We are delighted to be working with Dr. Hallowell. His skill and commitment to the issues of ADHD for many years is legendary. The combination of his talents with our program will be a wonderful resource and is likely to be a major influence to the speed with which help reaches the millions across the United States who would benefit from the treatment.

The DORE Program is an exercise-based remediation process for difficulties that originate with the cerebellum. On the spectrum of problems that someone with cerebellar developmental delay (CDD) might have are difficulties like dyslexia, ADD, ADHD and dyspraxia. By testing the balance and the ocular motor functions with state-of-the-art equipment they can determine the quality of cerebellar function.

In recent years the cerebellum has been found to contribute heavily to a host of essential activities such as short term memory, balance and coordination, verbal fluency, fine motor functioning, visual smooth pursuit (needed for focus, concentration and reading) executive functions (motivation, organization) and most of all automaticity which enables one to access information easily. DORE believes this delay in the development of the cerebellum is the root cause of learning difficulties.

Based upon the assessment results an individualized cerebellar stimulation exercise program is then prescribed which minimizes or eliminates the symptoms of these difficulties.

The exercises are simple to perform taking five to ten minutes, twice a day, but extremely effective in their effect on the cerebellum. Evaluations for progress and new exercise prescription happen every 6 to 8 weeks. The results are improvements in cognitive skills, motor skills and the reduction or elimination of a host of other symptoms associated with learning difficulties. The average program takes from 16 to 24 months and has a very high success rate (93%) for those who meet criteria. For more information and/or to make an appointment for a free screening, please call the Hallowell Center in Sudbury MA (978) 287-0810 and ask for Olga Soler.

Among the more famous clients of the Dore Program are international soccer star Kenny Logan (below) and Actress Toya Wilcox (above) wife of legendary Guitarist Robert Fripp of "King Crimson" fame.

"Wynford Dore and his research team have developed a ground-breaking new treatment for ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and various other conditions that derive entirely or in part from cerebellar dysfunction.  I have followed the development of this work for three years now, and my own son and wife have benefited tremendously by going on the program.  I am now convinced that this is the most exciting new treatment to appear since the advent of stimulant medication in 1937.  While the ideas behind cerebellar stimulation have been around for some time, Dore and his team are the first to raise the methodology to a quantitative and scientifically verifiable level.  This is truly exciting.  People who stay on the program long enough--months to a year or more--will very likely experience dramatic improvement in their symptoms, and will also benefit in unanticipated ways, such as improving mental function in general as well as balance, coordination, and athletic prowess.  I am tremendously excited to be a part of the Dore team, and to help spread the good news of what a valuable treatment modality the Dore method offers."
