Speaker's Bureau WHAT DOES MONEY MEAN? THE EMOTIONAL CURRENCY OF MONEY
What Does money Mean?  The Emotional Currency of Money
This presentation is based upon Dr. Hallowell’s first published book, What Are You Worth?: Coming to Terms With Your Feelings About Money.   Most people have deep feelings about money. While we all want more money, we do not all feel the same way about it. Some of us feel guilty when we get near money. Others of us feel excitement, even frenzy. Some of us feel guilty when we get paid; others of us feel cheated, no matter how much we’re given. Some of us grew up rich, but must get used to living poor as adults. This creates one set of emotions. Others grew up poor, then earn a lot of money and must adapt to being rich. This creates another set of feelings. Some of us give money away easily; others of us cannot part with a cent. All this has to do with the psychology each of us brings to money. This presentation explores the emotional meanings money takes on, the more common styles people develop in dealing with money, the ways in which money affects couples and families, and then offers suggestions how one can take charge of his or her dealings with money, instead of letting money be the boss.
